pH refers to the intensity of acid or alkaline materials in your water. If pH is too high, scale can form on surfaces in contact with the water.
Low pH (high acid) may cause erosion of the metal liner or concrete walls (pools with plaster linings) from acid corrosion, disinfectants effectiveness reduction like chlorine or bromine, increase of growth of algae and bacteria in the pool.
